Thomas Fleming Tom was the driving force behind the design and construction of Howick’s Clinique Veterinaire Dr Suzanne Marcil, thereby helping to realize his wife Suzanne’s dream of operating her own clinic. After a year of lending a hand, Tom decided to leave his job as a financial advisor with a major institution and join his wife as full-time Office Manager. Having been raised on a farm, his experience with animals simplified the transition. His academic qualifications, combined with his friendly disposition, make him the perfect candidate for over-seeing the day-to-day affairs of the clinic. With his multitude of skills, he also spends much of his time assisting with animal care.
Pierre Cartier Pierre began his training as a veterinary assistant in 1980. In 1992, after spending several years working in a mixed practice of large non-domestic and small companion animals, Pierre joined Dr. Marcil. Only cats and dogs! What a beautiful adventure! What great chemistry! To do this job one needs to be in good physical shape, because country people love large dogs. Cycling and hiking keep Pierre fit and give him the necessary endurance. When his grandchildren visit him at the clinic, they envy the fact that he gets to share affection with so many animals at the same time. They’re right!
Animal Health Technician In January 2009, Dana became a new and welcome part of our team. Dana is a Certified Veterinary Technician (Vanier College, 2005), and holds a Bachelor’s degree in animal biology from McGill University. Dana’s love for animals is evident in her ability to identify with and reassure them in stressful situations. As a technician, Dana will take blood, assist in surgery, assist in the examinations, and perform various laboratory tasks. Dana is always eager to help and never shies away from a challenge.
Jennifer Claude Jennifer joined our team in 2009, having recently completed the Animal Health Technician certification program at the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe. Jennifer owns dogs and cats of her own, and the love and care with which she handles our clients’ pets shows her true nature as an animal lover. You will see Jennifer operating our lab machines, taking x-rays, assisting in surgery, dispensing medication prescribed by the doctors, and performing many other tasks. She is a great asset to our team and is always there to lend a friendly and helping hand.
